Comforting Curry and Dancing It Out

I don’t know if it’s the change of seasons or body memory from first day of school-worries, or whatever it is, but I have been feeling anxious and high-strung all day.

Ready to assume the worst. Letting my brain wander on futures that haven’t happened yet.

I’ve learned some ways to cope with anxiety like this, so

I’m going to dance it out,

Watch my favourite movie,

Breathe,

Sigh it out and let it go!

(...At least try my best to.)

And, also eat some home made curry, which I think is the ultimate quick, comfort food.

Sorry, it's hard to get a flattering picture of curry... :/
My sister is awesome at throwing together comforting curries with whatever she has in the kitchen. I used her as inspiration for this one. It’s a pretty basic red lentil dhal with garlic, onion and a little bit of all my Indian spices thrown in. Namely, mustard seed, cumin, turmeric, curry powder, garam masala, lots of love and coconut milk.

I didn’t measure anything; I just went with my instinct. It felt very nourishing to just throw something together without worrying too much about quantities beyond guessing.

And that’s where I’m at today.

Off to enjoy some cuddle therapy with Jaspercat

and catch up on reading other Vegan MoFo posts! I'm so excited to see what the rest of the month has in store.

Hope your day had some bright moments in it!

  2. I agree! It's VERY hard to get a flattering photo of curry but I think yours is a goodie! Cute kitty, indeed! And I know what you mean about being high strung this week - I had a weird day, too! I think it was Wednesday I was grumpy but for no real reason! LOL

    1. Thanks! I'm used to following a recipe so this is a bit outside of my comfort zone but it felt really nice to just throw it together. Jasper is super cuddly; if he was a superhero he would be The Cuddler :)

  6. Sorry to hear you've been feeling anxious, I love the dance it out technique. There is an exercise/happiness class here called No Lights, No Lycra where you just go and dance in the dark :D The curry looks great, there is not much more comforting than a warm bowl of curry.
